2019 Street Project

Shafer Street Project
The City of Shafer is in the process of preparing plans and specifications for a Street Improvements Project in your neighborhood.

Project Schedule:

Commence Construction
July 24, 2019
Expected completion date is July 31, 2019

The city has contracted Fahrner Asphalt Sealers to apply a Microsurface treatment on your street.  This application is currently scheduled to start July 24, 2019.  You will receive an additional door knocker the day before your street will have the Microsurface applied.

When your street is scheduled, we ask that you not park on the street; and if you need access to your car during that day, park it on an adjacent street that will not be receiving the treatment.
If you have any questions, please contact the Fahrner representative, Jason Pearson, @ 651-346-9026

Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Project Scope:

Micro surfacing involves placing a slurry—which is a mixture of aggregate, asphalt emulsion, and a mineral filler such as Portland cement—into a wide crack and striking it off with a squeegee. Slurry-filling cracks is good for roadways with severe transverse cracks and/or depressed transverse cracks. A 3-foot-wide squeegee, with sideboards, is typically used to feather the material into the depressed areas.

Fahrner Asphalt is the company doing the work. They will be notifying residents in the work zone with door knockers 1-2 days in advance of the actual work. This work will affect your street for approximately 1-2 days. The street will be shut down for portions of the day while work is being done.

If you have any questions, please contact the Fahrner representative, Jason Pearson, @ 651-346-9026 or city engineer Lucas Jones, MSA Professional Services 612-548-3126.
